"Lighting the Path, Shaping the Future"
Good day everyone!,
I am Wendy Guantero, a proud student of the Bachelor of Elementary Education program from the College of Education. Today, I carry with me a message that truly reflects my journey: "Lighting the Path, Shaping the Future."
When I first entered this journey, I was nervous and unsure of myself. Since day one, during our orientation here at EVSU, I felt a little out of place. I had no friends yet, and I came from a different program during senior high school, which made me feel like I didn't fully belong. To be honest, BEED was not even my first choice. I initially wanted to take another program, but when I didn't pass, I applied for the BSOA course through the help of my auntie. I got in, but my heart told me something different. Deep inside, I felt a push, a strong calling that said, "This is not where you're meant to be."
That's when I decided to follow my heart and apply for the BEED program. The moment I passed, I felt happiness and fulfillment because I realized this is the course that truly fits me. During the orientation, when I saw my co-educators, I noticed how competitive and confident they were. For a moment, I felt pressured. But then my heart reminded me: don't be discouraged, if they can, you can also win.
This is why our motto speaks to me deeply. "Lighting the Path, Shaping the Future" is not just about teaching others- it's also about finding the courage to light our own path first. I may have started unsure, nervous, and without friends, but I know that every step I take in this program shapes not only my future but also the future of the students I will one day teach.
As future educators, we are given the chance to guide young minds, to inspire them, and to show them that no matter how difficult the journey may seem, there is always light ahead. Just like how I found my way to BEED, I want to become a teacher who will help children find their own path, their own voice, and their own future.
So to my fellow educators, let us remind ourselves: our journey may not always be easy, but our purpose is clear. We are here to light the path for others, so they too can shape their own bright future.
Thank you, and may we all continue to shine as future teachers.
